Ctenanthe Burle-Marxii is a compact and beautiful houseplant that makes a bold tropical statement. It originates from the tropics of Central and South-America (mosty Brazil) and is a close relative to the Calathea Family. Its bright green leaves are striped with alternating lance-shaped bands, and have deep purple undersides and stems. Ctenanthe are commonly called "Prayer Plants" because their leaves lie flat by day, but fold upwards in the evenings. Ctenanthe burle-marxii is nicknamed the "Fishbone Prayer Plant" due to the unique leaf pattern. Enjoy the nicely and bright striped leaves during the day and when it gets dark enjoy the beautiful purple underside of the leaves. Easy to grow and to care for, low maintenance plant, great for beginners. Place in medium to bright indirect light and water when the soil feels dry. Ctenanthe burle-marxii is a low growing plant that grows to not much more than 40 cm but gets wider and wider.
