The Fargesia nitida gansu is a non-invasive, evergreen bamboo. It is very suitable for planting as a hedge plant, but also suitable for planting in groups and solitary. This bamboo has narrow, gray-green leaves. The stems are dark green in colour and from about 3 years these will turn dark purple or even black. In winter, this kind of bamboo keeps its leaves. Moreover, this species is very hardy.
Because these bamboo plants do not spread, there is no need for a root limiter to be applied.
Fresh new shoots of Fargesias will always stay close to the mother plant. In other words, the plant does expand, but will not appear in unexpected places. This is in contrast to the ‘normal’ invasive bamboos.
The Fargesia nitida gansu is a bushy bamboo that is suitable for all soil types. This species grows well in both the sun, partial shade and shade. The maximum height is about 300 cm.
Plants are supplied with a total height of 30-45cm
